Release and Trust

Sometimes, we’re holding onto things so tightly—furniture, jobs, worries, even relationships—that we don’t realize it’s time to release them.

I’ve been moving furniture from my apartment, packing it up, loading it into my car, and driving it to Alex’s home. Now our home!! Little by little, I’ve been selling or donating what no longer serves us, preparing for a new season.

But there was one thing I couldn’t figure out: my couch.

As the deadline to turn in the keys to my apartment got closer (literally within hours), I found myself getting really worried. Alex was out of town. I didn’t ask anyone to come help me because by the looks of Facebook Market all my items we sold. But the couple who was going to buy my couch completely ghosted me. All is fair in love and Facebook Market.

Finally, I sat down on the couch exhausted, and just handed it over to God. I stopped trying to force a solution and said out loud, “Okay, Lord, this is yours.”

I had to be out by 7 PM, and it was already 5:30. I had no idea what would happen next, and I was too tired to try and figure it out.

So I let go and trusted.

Just seconds later, I received a text from a woman who had bought my bar stools earlier: “My husband’s off work. Is your couch still available?”

No way!! I was in awe!!

God had it all along—He was just waiting for me to let go.

If you’re struggling with something or feel weighed down by trying to figure it all out, maybe it’s time to release the whole thing.

When we release our grip, God has space to step in and do what we can’t.

He’s waiting, ready to take that burden, but we have to hand it over first.

Trust that His timing is perfect, and when you release control, you allow miracles to unfold.

He’s just waiting.
